Wordless Wednesday - Aunt Pittypat...Is That You?

That's what I think each time I see this picture.  Aunt Pittypat Hamilton from Gone With the Wind.  No clue who she is though.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Placing a Face with a Name

I've posted about Aloysius McElwee previously.  I've always wondered what he looked like.  The other week I became acquainted with another cousin in a completely unexpected and delightful way.  I met my (sort-of) cousin, Charles McElwee, by posting and asking questions on my hometown's historical society's Facebook page.  He was such a blessing to have been able to send me a picture of Aloysius to go with the name!  I can't thank him enough!

Wordless Wednesday - The Unknown Collection

Kellmer's of Hazleton, PA
Trevaskis of Hazleton, PA

Well, nearly.  I'm continuing on with my album of unknown photos.  This is, once again, taken from my Quirk family album of "who the heck are these people?"  This time a double-whammy of sorts.  If you look, the pictures are of the same gentleman, but taken by different photographers in the same city.  It's even the same pose.  I don't know the timeline for Hazleton, Pennsylvania photographers, but what I will have to do is research these two in particular.  Perhaps one took over or branched off from the other and they had the original to make copies from.

Also, a little research may be in order as to what the young man is wearing.  A priest perhaps?  I think so. Maybe finding out who this person was may not be an impossibility then.  Either way, my ancestor had more than one picture in the album and we did have some priests in the family.  Any ideas about the time frame for this photo?  I'd love any hints!

Wordless Wednesday - The Unknown Collection

This is a photo from an album of unknowns.  All I know is that it belonged to ancestors in my Quirk line. I'd love to think that it's a photo of family members.  Who?...well, I have no idea.  Kellmer's studio was in Hazleton, Pennsylvania.

Wordless Wednesday - Harvey's Lake

My mom, her siblings, parents and aunts would go up to Harvey's Lake from Hazleton, Pennsylvania in the summer.  I know they all have very found memories of their time spent at Harvey's Lake.  This is a picture I took from one of the docks in the summer of 2010.

Wordless Wednesday - An Easy Repair

After
Before

My grandfather Edward Brown Sr. as a child.  I love how they used to pose people with furniture!  I'm playing a little hooky from my blog right now since I'm at home with family, but I can't keep away from the blog for long, so a quick post and then back to having fun.  Many people have old photos with missing corners.  Just grab the cloning tool on your photo editing software (I use Serif PhotoPlus x2), copy a section that is similar and drag to clone.  Easy!

Wordless Wednesday - Repaired Card Photo

Original Photo
Adjustment #1

Adjustment #2
Adjustment #3

Final Picture
It's truly amazing what photo software can do!  The only difference between the final product and Adjustment #3 is just adjusting the color to make it more black and white than sepia-toned, but I like the sepia just as much (and I didn't take it completely out of the final picture either).  In fact Adjustment #3 looks a bit sharper to me...maybe I need to call that the final product!
